Statistical functions

Built-in functions in Excel can be used to perform calculations on spreadsheet data.

Relative cell references

the address of a cell based on the relative position of the cell that contains the formula and the cell referred to.

Order of evaluation

to change the grouping of operators.

Operator

A sign or symbol that specifies the type of calculation to perform within an expression. There are mathematical, comparison, logical, and reference operators.

Operand

Items on either side of an operator in a formula. In Excel, operands can be values, cell references, names, labels, and functions.

Mixed cell reference

In Excel cell references are used in formulas, functions, charts, and other Excel commands.

Mathematical functions

a function is a relation between a given set of elements (the domain) and another set of elements

Function formula

The function name tells Excel what calculation to perform.

formulas

is a mathematical equation used to caluculate a value. In Excel formulas must begin with an equal ( = ) sign.

Embedded chart

Chart sheet exists on a separate sheet in the workbook.

Chart

A graph, or a chart as it is known in Excel, is a visual representation of worksheet data.

Argument

Arguments supply the data for the function to use in its calculations.

The Fill Handle in Excel is possibly one of Excels most under utilized features. For those of you that don't know of it, it's the small black square in the bottom right of the active cell.http://www.ion.icaew.com/ClientFiles/ea801d54-868a-4a5b-9486-95d0f89c3dc4/exFillHandle1b.gif

Ascending order

To move from a higher to a lower place

Ascending Order

Arranged from smallest to largest

Active cell

The intersection of a row and column in a spreadsheet that is currently selected.
